Our story

The Beginning  est. 2016

Our founder, Michelle Castillo had the vision to start a feminist creative collective here in the Coachella Valley. Castillo saw a lack of inclusive and accessible womxn-centered programming that focused on intersectional feminism, activism, the arts, wellness, and community building.

The vision for Wyld Womxn is to nurture spaces where critical discussions on our intersectional identities can happen, a place for creative skill-sharing, collaboration, a platform for consciousness-raising and genuine sisterhood.

Under a full moon Castillo invited her fellow womxn artists and founding members Brittany Delany and Sarah Scheideman to share space. Castillo, Delany, and Scheidman met at Delany's house for a time to connect, listen, and just be themselves. Thus the early beginnings of the Wyld Womxn Collective started to bubble.

We continued to meet throughout the summer and added more of our original founding members, Marlene Aguirre, Lauren Bright, Sofia Enriquez, and Melinda Vida.
